Well, summer 2021 is 2/3’s over and it has been a busy one for many of you, and for us! But August is here and Calvert County in general and Solomons Island specifically still has a lot going on. This blog will review some of what is available and some of the exciting things to do.
First up is the Inaugural Patty Fest at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, August 6th, from 2-9pm. Local food, beverage, clothing, crafts, and informational vendors on hand. BaySide Entertainment be showcasing local talent along with BaySide artists, DJ and live music so all can enjoy.
Down river is the Dee of St. Mary’s Sunset Sail (adults only). Take an evening sail on the Dee of St. Mary’s. Fee is $35 per person, adults only. Guests are welcome to bring their own beverage; select your choice of sandwich at registration. BYOB optional. Also, on August 6th.
August 7th showcases a Craft & Flea Market at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. Join them for a little bit of everything you love from collectibles and vintage items to fresh produce and more.
Need a mid-week break? Try the Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social at the Port Republic School #7, a One-Room Schoolhouse from 6- 8pm on Wednesday, August 11. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy local, farm-fresh ice cream and live music.
Next up is the MD Food Truck Festival at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum. Saturday, August 14th is the date and 11am to 7pm is the time. Featuring over 25 trucks, music, adult beverages, and even a Kids zone, including a Moonbounce Water Slide! Many cuisines will be represented, go, and find your favorite! Don’t forget to check out the vendor Village.
The Solomons Dragon Boat Festival 2021 wraps up August on Solomons Island. It will be a full day of dragon boat races, complete with a parade of teams, lunchtime entertainment, caricature artists, children’s activities, vendor village and awards ceremony. Events throughout the week include a traditional Dotting of the Eye Ceremony, practice sessions and a Flash Mob.
